The Native American Media Alliance announced today they have selected six fellows for the 5th Annual Native American Feature Film Writers Lab , a talent development program that boosts the careers of Native American writers. In partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal, A+E Networks, Cherokee Nation Film Office, and A+E Networks, the Native American Feature Film Writers Lab is an annual program for talented and aspiring screenwriters. EXCLUSIVE: The ensemble for Jeff Nichols next feature film is continuing to grow as sources tell Deadline Michael Shannon , Boyd Holbrook and Damon Herriman have joined The Bikeriders at New Regency. Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy are already on board. Nichols will direct the pic, which is a fictional story inspired by the photography of Danny Lyon and his 1967 book The Bikeriders . Set in the suburbs of Boulogne-Sur-Mer in northern France, the feature captures a film within a film as it follows the production of a movie whose director turns to the local housing project for casting. Eager to capture performances of gritty authenticity, the director selects four working class teenagers to act in the film to the surprise and consternation of the local community, who question the director’s choice of “the worst ones”. TIFF announced its Short Cuts section today comprised of 39 live-action narrative, documentary, and animated short films from directors repping 18 countries.
