Rage Against the Machine wrapped up the 2022 leg of their Public Service Announcement reunion tour with a five-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden that concluded Sunday. At the second-to-last show on Friday night, they broke out “Fistful of Steel” for the first time since 1997. Check out the fan-shot video right here. The vast majority of the songs in the set throughout the tour came from the band’s three proper studio albums, but they did play Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad” from their covers collection Renegades, “No Shelter” from the Godzilla soundtrack, and Run the Jewels’ “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck).” The band originally planned on heading to Europe later this month, but they canceled those shows to give frontman Zach de la Rocha more time … [Read more...] about Watch Rage Against the Machine Play ‘Fistful of Steel’ for the First Time Since 1997
Adele Reveals Why She ‘Went Into Hiding’ After Last Minute Las Vegas Residency Cancellation: ‘I Was Embarrassed’
When Adele took the stage at the 2022 BRIT Awards to perform “I Drink Wine,” a power ballad from her fourth studio album, 30 , she half expected the audience to erupt into booing when she finished – and was surprised when she was instead met with applause. “It felt strange receiving so much love when I’d let people down,” the singer told ELLE in a recent interview that finds her opening up, at length, for the first time about the sudden cancellation of her Las Vegas residency earlier this year. In January, the night before her 24-date residency billed Weekends With Adele was scheduled to begin at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Adele shared a tearful video on social media explaining that the slate of shows would be indefinitely postponed . While she cited Covid-19 and delivery delays as explanations, the fact of the matter was that the show simply wasn’t ready. “There was just no soul in it,” Adele told ELLE. “The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected … [Read more...] about Adele Reveals Why She ‘Went Into Hiding’ After Last Minute Las Vegas Residency Cancellation: ‘I Was Embarrassed’
Divino Niño Rebel Against the Church on Sparkling Reggaeton-Fused Track ‘XO’
The Chicago-based band Divino Niño filled their 2019 breakthrough album, Foam, with lush, anti-gravity dream pop, so light it seemed able to drift listeners into a blissful new dimension. But on their upcoming album, Last Spa on Eart h , the band is playing with bolder sounds — and their new single, “XO,” is just a hint of the surprises they’ve prepared. The track is one of Divino Niño’s most upbeat without abandoning their skill for lithe, breezy production. “Over that summer [when we made the album], we fell back in love with J Dilla ,” the band tells Rolling Stone. “We were also really into this reggaeton track by L-Gante [that] he did with Bizarrap . In both instances, we got really into the idea of creating a beat that had swing and felt a bit drunk, s o we definitely moved the drums samples a lot to create a less quantized vibe.” The song slides between English and Spanish, something that’s reflective of the writing on Last Spa on Earth. While Foam was … [Read more...] about Divino Niño Rebel Against the Church on Sparkling Reggaeton-Fused Track ‘XO’
Camilo and Nicki Nicole Get Artsy in ‘Naturaleza’ Video
“Naturaleza,” the charming collaboration from Camilo and Nicki Nicole , is all about celebrating your own quirks and eccentricities — and the video accompanying the song with is as fun and idiosyncratic as the track’s message. The video, directed by Camilo’s wife Evaluna Montaner and filmed in Miami last May, matches unexpected scenes with the song’s mischievous production. “It fills me with enthusiasm to have worked together from the beginning to the end along with a video directed by my wife that we made as a family for this album,” Camilo said in a release. He also raved about teaming up with Nicki Nicole and talked about how well they worked together. “Nicki is a one-of-a-kind artist, the type that you only come across once. Lizzo is a runaway bride in her new video for “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).” On Monday, the singer released the visual to accompany her latest single from her Special album, released earlier this summer. The video opens with Lizzo walking down the aisle, recreating the scene from her “Truth Hurts” visual before she second-guesses the idea of marrying herself. The singer then ditches the ceremony altogether, to the surprise of the attendees. “Am I ready? (You deserve it now)/’Cause I want it (that’s what I’m talkin’ about),” she sings in the chorus as she leaves the wedding. “Am I ready? (You gon’ figure it out)/To be loved, to be loved.” Lizzo drives away in a red car before pulling to the side of the road and seeing a beautiful man in a motorcycle. The two hug and share a sweet moment before Lizzo leans for a kiss — but it turns out the guy was an illusion all along, and she was just making out with a tree.
