I t was perhaps rock and roll’s all-time worst day, December 6th, a day when everything went perfectly wrong. Altamont remains Topic A among the musicians who were there. After all, it’s not every day that a rock and roll band’s performance, let alone the Rolling Stones ‘, is accompanied by a knifing, stomping murder within a scream of the stage. “The violence,” Keith Richards told the London Evening Standard , “just in front of the stage was incredible. Looking back I don’t think it was a good idea to have Hell’s Angels there. But we had them at the suggestion of the Grateful Dead . “The trouble is it’s a problem for us either way. If you don’t have them to work for you as stewards, they come anyway and cause trouble. “But to be fair, out of the whole 300 Angels working as stewards, the vast majority did what they were supposed to do, which was to regulate the crowds as much as possible without causing any trouble. Cuomo Asks State AG and Chief Judge to Appoint Independent Lawyer to Investigate Sexual Harassment Claims
A spokesperson for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the governor’s office is asking New York Attorney General Letitia James and the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of New York to appoint an independent investigator to conduct a review of accusations of sexual harassment by the governor. “The Governor’s Office wants a review of the sexual harassment claims made against the Governor to be done in a manner beyond reproach. We had selected former Federal Judge Barbara Jones, with a stellar record for qualifications and integrity, but we want to avoid even the perception of a lack of independence or inference of politics,” Beth Garvey, special counsel and senior advisor to Cuomo, said in a statement Sunday, according to CNN . Jurassic World Director Responds to Whedon’s Sexism Criticism
Back in April, Universal Pictures released a clip for the highly-anticipated Jurassic World , where Chris Pratt 's Owen Grady is seen having a heated discussion with Bryce Dallas Howard 's Claire Dearing about their past dating life. Shortly after the clip debuted, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon took to his Twitter account, which he has since deleted, calling the scene "70s-era sexist." The filmmaker later apologized for the tweet, but today Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow responded to Joss Whedon 's comments, saying that he doesn't "totally disagree" with what he had to say. "I wasn't bothered by what he said about the movie and, to be honest, I don't totally disagree with him. I wonder why [Universal] chose a clip like that, that shows an isolated situation within a movie that has an internal logic. That starts with characters that are almost archetypes, stereotypes that are deconstructed as the story progresses. The real protagonist of … [Read more...] about Jurassic World Director Responds to Whedon’s Sexism Criticism
