Fox News is freaking out over a draft proposal to remove the words “so help you God” from the oath given to congressional witnesses, but they seem to have missed an arguably more telling change. On Tuesday night’s edition of Hannity, host Sean Hannity railed against a draft proposal by the House Committee on Natural Resources to strike the phrase from the witness oath. “The left is trying to erase what has been our Judeo-Christian principles,” Hannity declared, and added that “Democrats are actually moving to strike the words ‘So help you god’ from the oath. This reads like a playbook for a strong arm socialist takeover of some banana republic.” Other Fox News programs followed suit, running nine segments on the proposed rule change. Then, on Wednesday morning’s edition of America’s Newsroom, co-host Bill Hemmer asked Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) — who is a member of the committee in question — about the … [Read more...] about Fox News Freaks Out Over Proposed Removal of ‘So Help You God’ From House Committee Oath
When E.T. The Extraterrestrial arrived in the summer of '82, it reaffirmed Steven Spielberg's position as the undisputed king of the summer box office. After coming out of nowhere (more or less) just seven years prior to shattering box office records with Jaws, Spielberg had proven himself singularly talented when it came to balancing likable characters with jaw-dropping spectacle, and audiences turned up in droves to see him do it. He'd done it with Jaws, he'd done it with Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, and he'd done it again in the summer of '81, with Raiders Of The Lost Ark. From the studios' standpoint, Spielberg (who'd by then amassed over $1B in box office receipts) was the closest thing you could get to guaranteed box office success. He seemed capable of anything. Well, almost anything. As hard as the studios tried, no one seemed capable of talking Hollywood's biggest director into making a sequel. Universal had pushed hard for one on Jaws, but Spielberg had dug in his … [Read more...] about The Incredibly Ill-Advised E.T. Sequel That Almost Was

Stone Jr., a longtime informal adviser to President Trump, was arrested by the FBI on Friday after being indicted in the investigation by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. Stone was charged with seven counts, including one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements and one count of witness tampering, according to Mueller’s office. With Stone’s indictment, Mueller has struck deep inside Trump’s inner circle, charging a long-standing friend of the president and one of the first people to promote Trump for the White House. Stone, 66, who has been friends with Trump for three decades, served briefly as a formal adviser to his presidential campaign in 2015 and then remained in contact with him and top advisers through the election. By Martha Ross | [email protected] | Bay Area News Group PUBLISHED: January 18, 2019 at 1:52 pm | UPDATED: January 18, 2019 at 2:11 pm A new report alleging that Donald Trump directed his former personal attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about a proposed Trump Tower development in Moscow isn’t just alarming news for the president. Details of the report by BuzzFeed News could reasonably have made Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump’s “blood run cold,” as MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted. That’s because the report includes allegations that the siblings were much more involved in the project than they have previously disclosed, including when Trump Jr. testified to Congress. Cohen — who pleaded guilty to lying about the Trump Tower deal in his previous testimony to Congress and who has been sentenced to three years in prison — told the special counsel that he had extensively briefed Trump and his two oldest children about the … [Read more...] about New Trump Tower report is potentially bad news for Ivanka, Donald Jr.
