The creator of the critically acclaimed BBC natural history series Walking with Dinosaurs has landed a new eight-part docuseries at NBC . The broadcast network has ordered Surviving Earth that explores the bizarre and amazing creatures and breathtaking landscapes of a vibrant lost world. The series is a co-production between Loud Minds, the UK production company founded by Walking with Dinosaurs creator Tim Haines, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. It marks another interesting move in the world of high-end factual programming; the U.S. broadcast networks have generally shied away from big docuseries or natural history programming, leaving the genre to the likes of Discovery Channel and PBS, or more recently streamers such as Netflix and Apple. Jxdn continues to mourn the death of his close friend, creator Cooper Noriega, with the release of two new songs, “Beautiful Boy” and “Even in the Dark,” on what would have been Noriega’s 20th birthday Tuesday. “All I’m trying to do is allow people to feel like they’re not alone in their feelings — and there’s so many vast feelings, that’s why I didn’t want to tie it down to just one specific emotion or idea,” he told Billboard about the pair of songs. “I was really trying, even though it’s only two songs, to create a world. I hope to one day add on, but this is exactly what it needs to be for now. Details on Dani de la Torre and Beto Marini’s latest projects are scarce, but Deadline understands development is underway on the feature, with the spinoff at an early stage of gestation — dependent on the outcome of the upcoming third season. La Unidad , from Buendia Estudios, is set to shoot its third season in Galicia, continuing to focus on a Spanish anti-terrorism unit as attempts to stop attacks on Spain. In the action-adventure pic from writer-director Kelly Blatz , a dishonorably discharged soldier (Apa) seeks out his estranged father (Dane) to help him pursue his dream of racing Supersport motorcycles. Roku has teamed with NBCUniversal to offer eight local NBC stations as free offerings on its popular Roku Channel . It is the first time local stations will be on the Roku Channel, which the company says has reach to households with 80 million people.
