The 66th BFI London Film Festival has set Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical as its Opening Night Gala. Directed by Matthew Warchus and starring Emma Thompson , Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, Sindhu Vee and Alisha Weir as the eponymous Matilda, the film will have its world premiere on October 5 at the Southbank Centre in the Royal Festival Hall. Sony Pictures UK and TriStar release theatrically in the UK on December 2. Netflix will release the film elsewhere during the holiday season. Filmmaker and cast attendance is expected at the LFF opening and there will also be simultaneous preview screenings of the film at multiple cinemas across the UK. R Madhavan-starrer Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow, and we are here with the film's first review. The film is based on the life of scientist and aerospace engineer S Nambi Narayanan. Interestingly, the film marks directorial debut of R Madhavan, who also essays the role of the protagonist in the film. New York Emmy Nominations: News 12 Dominates Field; Telemundo & Univision Outlets Top All Others
News 12 dominated with 80 nominations for the 65th annual New York Emmy Awards nominations, which were revealed today. The NY chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said Telemundo’s WNJU squeezed past Univision’s WXTY for second place, 53 noms to 52. Spectrum News NY1 and MSG Networks tied for fourth place with 45 nominations apiece, just ahead of WNBC News’ 44. The winners will be honored at a ceremony in October, with a date and venue TBA. The gala will be livestreamed on the New York Emmys website. ‘White Men Can’t Jump’: Myles Bullock & Vince Staples Join 20th Century Studios Reboot
EXCLUSIVE : Myles Bullock ( BMF ) and Vince Staples ( Lazor Wulf ) are the latest additions to the cast of 20th Century Studios ’ White Men Can’t Jump reboot. They join an ensemble that also includes Jack Harlow, Sinqua Walls, Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, Tamera ‘Tee’ Kissen and more, as previously announced. The upcoming film will offer a new take on Ron Shelton’s 1992 sports comedy, starring Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes and Rosie Perez, which saw Black and white basketball hustlers join forces to double their chances of winning money on the street courts and in a basketball tournament.
