Why the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee flunked their crash tests
Mark Phelan Detroit Free Press Published 9:30 p.m. UTC Jun 12, 2018 Nobody should be surprised that the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee scored worst in crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Least of all anyone in management at Ford or Fiat Chrysler. Lousy safety ratings are inevitable when an automaker delays replacing a vehicle and newer competitors surpass it. Fiat Chrysler and Ford management are notorious for keeping vehicles in production after the sell-by date for their underlying structure. The Explorer and Grand Cherokee are still terrific vehicles. And who wouldn’t expect a big discount on a car that just flunked a safety test? Crash tests evolve over time, as automakers work to make every new vehicle’s underlying structure … [Read more...] about Why the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee flunked their crash tests

Eric D. Lawrence Detroit Free Press Published 6:19 p.m. UTC Jun 12, 2018 The Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee fared worst among midsize SUVs in the latest crash test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In fact, damage to the Ford Explorer caused the structure to collapse, and both the Grand Cherokee and Honda Pilot showed the possibility of head injuries. The ratings were based on results from the passenger-side small overlap test. A small overlap crash happens when the front corner of a vehicle strikes another vehicle or an object such as a utility pole or tree, according to a news release. “Although some vehicles in this group offer very good protection, in other models, the airbags, safety belts and structure showed serious deficiencies,” said Insurance Institute Chief Research Officer David Zuby. “In those SUVs, a front-seat passenger would be at risk of injuries to the head, hip or leg in a right-side small … [Read more...] about Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee get worst ratings in crash test

From the exterior it is one of the most beautiful examples of period architecture you’ll find in this part of Norfolk. Famed for its timber framed properties, this is a rare example of 17th century architecture; its first recorded resident was in 1698 so I believe this house is Queen Anne in style with its steeped pitched, hipped … [Read more...] about Fancy renovating this grand house for sale in Harleston?
