Streaming Films Are Far More Diverse Than Theatrical Features, Study Finds
When it comes to diversity in film, streaming far outpaced theatrical releases last year, according to a new report from UCLA , which found that diversity has taken “a step back in theatrical films but strides forward in streaming.” The report found that women and people of color fared far better in the streamers than in theatrical releases in every job category surveyed, which included directors, writers, lead actors and overall casts. And despite recent progress, the report’s authors say that in 2022, diversity in many key jobs on theatrical releases saw a “backslide to 2019 levels.” Even so, the percentage of women directors of theatrical films has nearly tripled since 2011 – from 4.6% to 14.6% last year – though they remain underrepresented by a factor of more than 3-to-1. And on … [Read more...] about Streaming Films Are Far More Diverse Than Theatrical Features, Study Finds
Justice League Dark: Bad Robot Developing Film & TV Projects Based On Warner Bros. DC Comics
EXCLUSIVE: I hear that Bad Robot , through its new deal at Warner Media, is exclusively developing both film and TV ideas based on DC’s Justice League Dark universe at Warner Bros . This deal is all very nascent and at this point in time there aren’t any specific projects or characters that are being specifically developed out of the franchise. I understand that Bad Robot’s Head of Motion Pictures Hannah Minghella and Head of Television Ben Stephenson will soon be taking meetings with talent reps and their writing clients on which characters will get their own projects. Justice League Dark (or JLD team) first appeared in the September 2011 issue of Justice League Dark #1 featuring such superheros, mostly occult and offbeat, as John Constantine, mystic and fortune teller Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, the Changing Man, and Zatanna. The roster is much larger, and members joined later on, with Swamp Thing being added in issue 19. Other members of JLD include … [Read more...] about Justice League Dark: Bad Robot Developing Film & TV Projects Based On Warner Bros. DC Comics
9 Years Of Queen: Here’s Why Kangana Ranaut’s Rani Mehra Will Always Be A Pop Culture’s Favourite Character
Kangana Ranaut, over the years, has proved herself as a powerhouse performer and became one of the most important figures in the realm of Bollywood. However, back in 2006, when this young, naive, and gorgeous newcomer stepped into the world of cinema with the crime drama film Gangster, nobody would have imagined that one day she would be nicknamed the 'Queen of Bollywood.' In her initial days, she was mocked for the way she spoke, the way she dressed, and the way she carried herself. All in all, her existence in Bollywood was questioned. Kangana did not let this stop her from realising her dreams as she improved her skills and, with each film, gained the flair that positioned her among the A-list female actors in the Hindi film industry. Eight years after her first film and a series of hits and misses, in 2014 came her mega-hit, Queen, directed by Vikas Bahl. Though the initial response to this film was lukewarm, it turned out to be a turning point in her career and … [Read more...] about 9 Years Of Queen: Here’s Why Kangana Ranaut’s Rani Mehra Will Always Be A Pop Culture’s Favourite Character

The mix of studio and arthouse fare includes Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind , Martin Scorsese ’s The Age of Innocence , The Last Picture Show by Peter Bogdanovich and films from Wes Anderson , Pedro Almodovar and Guillermo Del Toro.
