UPDATED with detailed summary of the investigation: The company that produced the ill-fated Rust movie has been slapped with a fine of $136,793 by the New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau for its “willful and serious” violation of workplace safety procedures. The fine, which is the maximum allowable, follows the Bureau’s six-month investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accidental shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza on October 21. “There were serious management failures,” state Environmental Cabinet Secretary James Kenney said in a video statement (watch it below), “and more than sufficient evidence to suggest that if stardard industry practices were followed, the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutching and the serious injury to Joel Souza would not have occurred. … This is a complete failure of the employer to follow recognized national protocols that keep employees safe.” Read the report … [Read more...] about ‘Rust’ Production Company Fined Nearly $137,000 For “Willful & Serious” Safety Violations: “An Avoidable Loss Of Life Occurred”

Meet the Rolling Stones Superfan Who’s Spent Millions on His Collection and Attends Every Single Show
When the Rolling Stones take the stage anywhere in the world, a few things are guaranteed to happen. Lee has been following the band on tour since the mid-Nineties, and he’s amassed a collection of Stones memorabilia so massive that it’s earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records (and set him back more millions that he cares to count), but he only started uploading concert videos to YouTube within the past year. Despite his complete lack of experience as a filmmaker, his work stands out like Steven … [Read more...] about Meet the Rolling Stones Superfan Who’s Spent Millions on His Collection and Attends Every Single Show

Does the Furry Community Have a Nazi Problem?
Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2017 – a convention for enthusiasts who wear animal costumes ingrained with human characteristics for roleplaying – has been canceled. On Monday, the RMFC board of directors organizing the 10th annual event, set to be held in Denver next August, posted a statement that a “movement has grown into a community that promotes violence” which resulted in a “sudden and drastic increase in security costs” exceeding a third of the event’s operating budget. The announcement came after the founder of the Furry Raiders, an outlier group within the anthropomorphic subculture, adopted an armband which featured a black paw on a red background that some thought had a striking resemblance to a part of the Nazi uniform. Convention chairman Zachary Brooks did not directly name the Furry Raiders in his account, but convention staff identified the Furry Raiders as being at the center of the controversy after being labeled a neo-Nazi group throughout the community, which largely … [Read more...] about Does the Furry Community Have a Nazi Problem?
