Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade effectively banning abortions immediately in certain states, a plethora of companies have promised to provide travel expenses to staff who live in a restricted state and want access to an abortion in a state where it is still legal. Netflix, Disney, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Nike are just a handful of companies who are joining companies such as Live Nation, Sony Music, Amazon, Tesla, Citigroup, Levi Strauss, and Starbucks who had previously said it would support its respective staff who seek an abortion by providing travel expenses. In an email obtained by Rolling Stone , Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino told employees on May 12 — just over a week after news had initially leaked that the Supreme Court would shut down Roe v. Wade — that the company would cover the travel costs to its U.S. employees for “women’s healthcare services.” “Access to women’s health services is absolutely vital,” Rapino wrote. “We … [Read more...] about Sony Music, Live Nation, Netflix, More Offer Staff Travel Reimbursement for Abortions

Brian Laundrie Claims Killing Gabby Petito Was ‘Merciful’ in Notebook Confession
Brian Laundrie wanted people to believe that he killed Gabby Petito because she was badly injured. The contents of his notebook, which authorities found near his remains in a Florida swamp last October — and which the FBI announced in January included a confession — have been shared by the Laundrie family attorney, according to NBC News New York . The photos show a multi-page suicide note, still legible after being underwater for several weeks. In what reads like a romanticized fantasy of a mercy killing, Laundrie explains that he and Petito had been rushing back to their van on a Wyoming campground as darkness set in, when Petito fell while crossing a stream. “I hear a splash and a scream,” Laundrie wrote. “I found her breathing heavily, gasping my name.” He carried her as far as he could, then built a fire and spooned her to try to warm her up, he claimed. “She was so thin, had already been freezing too long,” he wrote. He said she had a head injury and was … [Read more...] about Brian Laundrie Claims Killing Gabby Petito Was ‘Merciful’ in Notebook Confession

Networks Plan Special Coverage Following Supreme Court’s Abortion Ruling
Broadcast networks broke into regular programming to cover the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, while cable networks have been virtually non-stop in providing reaction. That will continue this evening. Rachel Maddow will host her MSNBC show, breaking from her regular schedule. Norah O’Donnell will anchor CBS Evening News from the Supreme Court. At 8 PM, PBS will feature The End of Roe: A PBS NewsHour Special Report , with Judy Woodruff looking at the legal and cultural impact. Washington Week , hosted by Yamiche Alcindor, will focus entirely on the Roe decision and feature the Politico reporter who broke the leaked draft opinion. That leaked opinion gave networks extra time to prepare for a momentous ruling. MSNBC, which ran commercial free for four hours after the decision, had reporters in Jackson, MS and St. Louis, MO, capturing the scene outside abortion clinics in two states that have so-called “trigger laws,” where abortion laws immediately … [Read more...] about Networks Plan Special Coverage Following Supreme Court’s Abortion Ruling

UPDATED with latest: Hollywood’s unions are reacting Friday to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. SAG-AFTRA has called the decision “archaic and dangerous,” and vowed to “fight to protect women’s right to choice.” “Anyone who believes in the right of women to make their own healthcare decisions should be outraged with today’s archaic and dangerous ruling,” the guild said in a statement Friday. “Every American deserves and is entitled to an equal right to healthcare choice. Today, the United States Supreme Court abandoned that principle in a ruling that empowers states to enact draconian restrictions on healthcare choice and destroy lives, if we allow it. We will continue to fight to ensure the overwhelming majority voice of the people is heard in state and federal legislative bodies. We have the collective power to make certain today’s decision does not overcome the will of the people. SAG-AFTRA will fight to protect women’s right to choice and … [Read more...] about Hollywood’s Unions Condemn SCOTUS Ruling Overturning Roe V Wade; SAG-AFTRA, WGA, IATSE & Actors’ Equity, More Join Chorus Of Boos
