Justin Timberlake has apologized to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson in a new statement the singer posted on social media. Following the recent release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears , Timberlake has been criticized for the public relations offensive his team dispatched in the aftermath of the pop stars' breakup, with the tabloid accusations against Spears damaging her reputation in the media and public eye. "I've seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right," Timberlake wrote in his Instagram statement. "I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism."
