Good Morning Britain returned with the first show of the week with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid back presenting. Joining them on a live video link was Jennifer Arcuri, but for some of those watching at home, her hour-long interview was too much for them to handle first thing on a Monday morning.
Tech entrepreneur and former model Arcuri has been at the centre of a row over whether the now-Prime Minister failed to declare a conflict of interest over their relationship.
It comes after she was reportedly given £126,000 in public money and privileges access to three foreign trade missions led by Johnson while he was in City Hall as Mayor of London.
Arcuri’s appearance on ITV was the first time she had spoken publicly since the claims came to fruition and naturally Morgan and Reid were keen to get to hear her side of the story.
However, because there were so many topics of conversation to discuss, the interview exceeded the normal prime time slot and ran for an hour leaving some of those watching at home infuriated.
Taking to Twitter to give their thoughts on the content of the interview, one said: “This interview is going on too long #GMB.”
“@piersmorgan I guarantee 98% of #GMB are bored of this interview now, time to wrap it up???” another added, while someone else remarked: “This interview is so uncomfortable to watch #gmb.”
A third commented: “Why is this woman still on my screen? Nobody cares! #GMB.”
“@piersmorgan how much longer is this interview going to go on for, it’s boring now. You’re giving more help to Jennifer Arcuri business with this long boring interview. Never thought I’d turn you over Piers. #BorisJohnson #GMB,” someone else suggested.
However, others enjoyed the conversation between the presenters and guest.
“#GMB @piersmorgan I’m really enjoying this interview this morning with Jennifer Arcuri. So much better than BBC Breakfast,” a viewer said.
Someone else wrote: “This is a really good interview by @susannareid100 & @piersmorgan #GMB.”
“Oh I knew the Jennifer Arcuri story was going to be good but I expected it in the Sunday papers not live on #GMB and my god this is an instant classic,” a third wrote online.

The interview ranged from discussing the first time Arcuri met Johnson, to the amount of times they met one another at her Shoreditch office which was also her abode, to whether or not the money she received as business grants were only given to her because of her close relationship with the politician.
ITV viewers saw Morgan and Reid ask several times whether or not Arcuri had an intimate relationship or an affair with Johnson.
“I am really not going to answer that question. I am being used as a pawn. This entire thing is a crazy charade,” she replied.
“It’s not [relevant]. Boris had nothing to do with all my achievements. It’s absolute c**p, it’s why I’m not answering this question.”
“But you’re not denying it,” Morgan hit back.
Arcuri sternly told the presenters: “I’m not answering, that’s my record. Please don’t misuse my words…It’s not really anyone’s business what private life we had.
“These are insinuations and third party heresy. Would you like me to ask about your sex life? I am objectified.”
She went on: “I think we’re forgetting that Boris is extremely personable. It wasn’t like he singled me out. He is there to talk to anybody if they get in his face enough.
“It’s unfortunate a good friend… now I’m dragged into this horrific scandal. The answer is now going to be weaponised against this man.
“Boris never ever gave me favouritism. Never once did he ask for favour.
“He only knew me as an extremely passionate entrepreneur,” Arcuri concluded.
She said she “never” discussed grants or sponsorship with Johnson during the “handful” of times they met with one another.
Following the interview, Morgan summarised: “His [Johnson’s] sex life doesn’t matter, but here, clearly whether the relationship they had influenced the money and trips she was going on is the key of this scandal.
“The fact she was not willing to deny it, she could have stopped the ‘weaponising’ by saying ‘we have never had a relationship like that’, but she chose not to.”
Johnson has denied any wrongdoing. He has said everything he did when promoting London overseas as Mayor was done in “complete conformity with the code and the rules”.
