For the UK:
In the mean time, while we all collectively wait for this year’s Black Friday madness to begin, let’s take a look back at what Black Friday really is.
What is Black Friday?
Well, as we said all the way at the top of the page, Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. Over the course of the last few years, the popularity of Black Friday has only risen. The ‘tradition’, if you can call it that, of Black Friday itself dates back to the 1950s in Philadelphia, USA. What began as a small sales event in one city, eventually grew to become the chugging behemoth of capitalism we know today.
As the popularity of the Black Friday event grew along with the advent of online retailers stepping into the ring as well, we began to see the deals and offers not just relegated to the Friday itself. Some stores had the ‘clever’ idea of adding ‘Cyber Monday’ as a second day of price crashes. Most recently, online retailers have taken to starting their Black Friday offers a week before and having seven whole days of deals, price cuts and offers. It’s a regular festival of savings.
What is there to expect on Black Friday 2017?
A whole lot of deals, offers and price cuts from every major retailer online and in-store. Usually, retailers will save their best stuff for Black Friday itself and slash every price they can on the same day. The actual products that see price reductions range from kitchen wares to computers, to games, to clothes and much more. For the most part, you can expect to see big discounts on electronics such as televisions, sound systems, Bluetooth headphones, tablets and phones. Along with that, anything video game related should be expected to be up for a price cut.
This means anything from games consoles to the games themselves to gaming merch, it’s all likely to be discounted in some way. This is usually the best time of the year (even better than Christmas time) to pick up a brand new console. This may take you from not owning a PS4 all the way to owning a PS4 with PSVR for much cheaper than you’d expect. At the very least, you can expect to pick up some individual game bargains. For example, we’re expecting to see big discounts on Uncharted 4, FIFA 17, Overwatch, Dark Souls 3 and (if we’re lucky) No Man’s Sky.
What to expect with PS4 deals and bargains this 2017?
We expect to see standalone Playstation four offers dropping below £300 for the first time, whilst you should be able to get a Playstation 4 Slim with a bundled game for around £200. Now’s a great time to wait for PSVR cuts too, as odds are these headsetse will be cut from their £399 in attempts to compete with the Oculus and HTC Vive platforms. Furthermore, a ton of games ought to be discounted too.
Deals will arrive throughout Black Friday week, and continue over the weekend to Cyber Monday on 27 November – and in some cases through to the end of the month, or even beyond into the Christmas season.
