Live report of the first anniversary of Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami by AFP: 0714 GMT: The latest update from the Tokyo protest suggests there are now as many as 6,000 people taking part. 1707 GMT: There are an overwhelming number of people giving their personal stories of how the tsunami affected them. One elderly woman who appeared on local television wept as she laid flowers at a makeshift alter for her missing grandchild. “I want my grandchild to be found,” she said. 0701 GMT: An AFP journalist says that around 80 tearful people gathered in the badly-hit Watanoha district, many of them holding small origami animals. 0649 GMT: Some more from that anti-nuclear demonstration in Tokyo, with our correspondent Harumi Ozawa saying well over 1,000 people are taking part. The protest began in earnest just after the one minute of silence, with demonstrators blaring horns and banging drums.
