PARIS — This year’s MIPCOM attendees will be treated to some market mirth when Jerry Seinfeld hits Cannes on Oct. 6, organizers Reed MIDEM said Wednesday. Seinfeld and his production partner Ellen Rakieten will bring their new comedy-reality format “The Marriage Ref” to the market, in partnership with the format’s worldwide distributor Endemol. Seinfeld and Rakieten will hold a news conference to answer questions about the show, before Seinfeld treats industry pros to a comedy performance. “The Marriage Ref” is Seinfeld’s first TV series since his eponymous hit show ended its nine-year run in 1998. Exec-produced by Seinfeld and Rakieten, “Marriage Ref” is planned for a 2010 airdate on NBC stateside, and Endemol has local versions of the show planned across the globe. The MIPCOM market is set for Oct. 5-9 in Cannes.
